ABOUT THE ROLE

The purpose of the Egypt Safety & Security Manager role is to develop and manage best-in-class safety & security systems in order to keep our Users, Captains, Careem team members as well as the Company’s assets & reputation safe and secure across Egypt.

This role will work closely with Egypt’s Managing Director and management team as well as central operations & supply teams. He will have a fixed reporting line to the Director of Safety & Security, based in Dubai. Key responsibilities include:

  • Identify risk issues to develop and implement a safety & security strategy to keep fleet operations at an optimum efficiency, while achieving expected growth levels and building a strong culture of safety & security into operations

  • Act as a primary point of contact for safety & security issues

  • Develop and maintain a robust, appropriate and scalable incident management system and lead our response to incidents

  • Provide appropriate guidance to leadership and where necessary recommend innovative solutions to safety & security challenges

  • Build and manage robust office security measures and processes

  • Monitor for compliance of our procedures and processes

  • Support the anti-fraud team and lead investigations into suspected fraudulent activity as requested

  • Manage vendors to maintain the highest standards of service delivery

  • Be the primary point of contact with law enforcement agencies

  • Build and manage a safety and security network across multiple cities where Careem operates

  • Lead investigations into safety and/or security related issues and complaints

REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will have a passionate commitment to improving the lives of people, an insane focus on excellence and customer service, and a strong alignment with our core values: being bold, focused, agile and collaborative. Additional qualifications include:

  • Ideal candidate will have 4+ years of experience in a safety/security leadership role gained within a corporate environment and preferably in a customer facing context

  • Candidates with a combination of work experience across Police/Armed Forces and the private sector would be given preference

  • Hands-on experience of developing, implementing and managing security management systems, incident response processes,investigations, office security systems, travel risk programs and creating safety & security protocols and procedures

  • Operational experience of Cairo is required; experience of working across all major cities in Egypt is a bonus

  • Educated to undergraduate degree level with a preference for functional academic qualifications and/or transportation, safety qualifications

  • Should have excellent contacts in the security industry, especially with law enforcement authorities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office’s Excel, Word and Powerpoint is necessary

  • Written and verbal fluency in Arabic English is required. Fluency in French is advantageous
